My First Chanel

While walking through Soho on the day before my birthday, I discovered the most fabulous second hand store on earth called Roundabout. I'm not much of a vintage person, but I fell in love with this silk Chanel skirt:
It really doesn't photograph well. In person it is magnificent and soft and perfect. Plus, vintage is good for the environment.

Happy Birthday to me.

How To Train Your Dragon

This movie was adorable. It's no Tory Story 3, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Now if I can only find someone to watch the Illusionist with me, I will have seen all the animation nominations for the Academy Awards. I am definitely more excited for this year's show than last. I love Anne Hathaway. And I LOVE James Franco.

To Do List

I really need to get out more. While the weather has been great for my reading and movie life, it has really taken a toll on my social life.

Better Being Underground
An underground lunch spot that's only open from 12pm to 4pm.

The Blind Barber
A barbershop/lounge in the East Village.

Once Upon a Tart
Yummy looking tarts in the West Village.

Death and Co
Speakeasy with a truffle mac&cheese.

I also want to go back here:
Stuffed Artisan Cannolis
I consider myself something of a cannoli connoisseur. My friend J and I stumbled upon this place last summer when I was living on the Lower East Side and we were on the wait list for the Clinton Street Bakery. Mint Chocolate Chip cannoli = bliss.

Dilemma

How is one to live her life like she was dying if it's highly likely that her life would continue for the next 50 years? If I knew I only had a month left I would spend all my savings going on trips and having lots of fun. I would also engage in higher risk behavior than is typical for me. It just really aggravates me when people say to live life right now. How can I do that when I am supposed to act responsibly to preserve my reputation and save for the future?

What I Did Today

10 hour work day

Read the Great Gatsby, The Trousseau by Chekhov and this week's Entertainment Weekly.

Watched an episode of Royal Pains.

Half an hour of Yoga

Not bad for a wintry day. I have finally mastered the art of being all alone. It's fabulous. I can get so much more done.
