We've Got Annie

My sister visited this weekend and we went to see Annie on Broadway with some friends.  It was a fun show and I'd always hoped it would come back to the stage.  We ate at a few of my favorite places like Tamarind in Tribeca, Shake Shack, EJ's Luncheonette, and Negril.  The best was when we went to my fiance's place for a delicious home cooked meal.  We also went dress shopping at Vera Wang and Saks. I ended up getting the first dress I tried on, but I tried three others just to be sure. In the past couple months I went to the Bridal Garden and David's Bridal for practice and I think it definitely helped. I am almost as confident in my dress choice as I am in my choice of fiance. Life is better when you know exactly what you want and have absolutely no qualms about your choices.

Today we signed the contract for our venue, sight unseen. I'm really proud of myself for picking the dress, the venue, and getting the engagement photos all done within one month of being engaged.  Hopefully everything else will be easy.   Now I just have to find bridesmaid's dresses/shoes, a photographer, videographer, DJ, makeup artist, hair stylist, baker, officiant, and transportation.  Wow, that sounds like a lot now that I  write it all down.

Funny Girl

This book was not laugh out loud funny, but funny in the this woman proclaims all my innermost thought out loud without a hint of embarrassment type of way.  I will now recount my favorite ever scene from The Office, where Mindy was one of the main writers.

Kelly: Who's Bob Hope?

Michael: God. He's a comedian.
Kelly: Oh, like Amanda Bynes.
Michael: Who's Amanda Bynes?
Kelly: She's from What A Girl Wants.
Michael: Oh, I love that movie. Yes, Kelly is right. The person to replace me has to have a great sense of humor and they have to possess the leadership qualities of a Bynes or a Hope.

The Mindy Project is my favorite sit-com on tv right now.  Kelly Kapoor was by far my favorite character on the office and I like Mindy even better.  I feel a deep kinship with other women who sit around listening to Broadway soundtracks and understand Amanda Bynes to be one of the great comedians of our time.  Plus, I love smart women.  Smart women are really the best kind.  I desperately hope everyone watches this show and it will never be cancelled.

Bling Bling

It's not easy to get a picture of a ring.
On March 30, 2012 my boyfriend of nearly 15 months proposed at Harry's Steak and Cafe downtown. It was perfect and I am still trying to let all my happiness fully sink in.  I just hope I  remember to thank God every day for blessing me with someone who is immeasurably more than all I asked or imagined.

My fiance never asked me or any of my friends or family what type of ring I might want.  He just so happened to want the same exact ring in the same exact setting, round solitaire in platinum setting, for me that I consider to be ideal.  He even guessed my ring size correctly.  I sure didn't know it.  This is me on the 5th day of my shellac french manicure.  I am really not a manicure personal at. all., but I figured this was a special occasion.

Brooks Brothers Boucle

So I was faithful to my promise not to buy any clothes for two months.  I finally broke my fast with this jacket from Brooks Brothers.
Petite Wool Three-Quarter Sleeve Boucle Jacket
I love getting things for ~$300 off the original price.  I am wearing it today in the city.  It's one of those spring  days when a jacket like this is perfect.  I also have a lot of navy clothing so I felt that this jacket would be a great investment.  I am going to have to be super responsible with my purchases for the foreseeable future but I'm still due for some new clothing and shoes purchases.
